Auctions: vigilance is the order of the day

One might think that, because they are presented within the official framework of auction houses, the Hergéan artefacts placed on the market are all authentic. This is not the case. We are regularly informed of articles, objects or drawings being offered for sale at auctions, whether dedicated to Hergé, or general auctions, held by auction houses.

Whether these auctions take place online or in the auction houses themselves, you should be very careful about the lots offered. Many items or drawings presented as official, turn out to be counterfeit. The words "tributes", "artisanal" and "after Hergé" in particular are no guarantee of authenticity - quite the contrary.

The auction houses are solely responsible for the lots offered for sale, and therefore assume full responsibility in the event of the sale of unofficial products or fake drawings.
